Howdy 👋 I’m Chelsea Canada

Chelsea Canada is a fifth‑generation Coloradan and public policy professional with more than a decade of experience in state policy analysis, grassroots organizing, and strategic communication. Her career has been rooted in strengthening democracy by equipping elected officials and the public with clear, non‑partisan information and fostering meaningful civic engagement. She blends analytical rigor with organizing expertise to translate complex policy issues into accessible insights and to create environments where stakeholders can provide informed feedback.

Most recently, Chelsea staffed and advised a bipartisan national task force of state legislators leading cutting‑edge tech policy discussions on artificial intelligence, consumer privacy, and children’s online safety. As state leaders grappled with emerging tech policy, Chelsea became a trusted expert on state‑level proposals related to AI, social media regulation, and consumer privacy. She has fielded thousands of inquiries from legislators and staff, briefed committees across the country, and presented at national conferences including the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials and the National Association of State Chief Information Officers. Over her career her policy analysis has been cited by outlets such as the Albuquerque Journal, the Santa Fe New Mexican, AP News, Politico, and The Washington Post. In 2025, she authored a series of AI policy briefs and joined a bipartisan delegation on an international tech policy exchange in Germany.

Previously, as Director of Public Policy at the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Chelsea represented more than 400 companies in policy discussions on technology, telecommunications, labor, energy, and economic development. She has also advised elected officials in Colorado and New Mexico, including the New Mexico Legislative Education Study Committee and former Colorado Senate President Leroy Garcia. Chelsea’s career spans several nonprofits focused on civic engagement, civil discourse, and public policy development. Since 2010, she has helped register hundreds of thousands of voters and organized youth‑centered civic engagement events.

A first‑generation college graduate, Chelsea earned a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder and an M.P.P. from the University of Denver.
